week 1 — investigation

The ticking of the grandfather clocks in each house draws louder and louder — soon, the ticking turns into a defining gong. Characters are stricken from their beds with the noise, allowing them to venture out.
Despite the frantic nature of getting out of their homes, upon exit out into the Abode, they'll see something unlike their arrival — the celebration seems to be over. Ribbons and streamers ripped from the lamposts, oversized candies were pushed into the river, wrapped presents were smashed and torn astray.
It looks like someone was not having a good unbirthday?
Shall you explore?
NOTE: Anyone in the House of Clubs (Foxes and Butterflies) and House of Spades (Snakes and Sheep), please do not reply to anything immediately. You have presents.
Welcome to the Investigation Log! To streamline things, I am listing locations and a cap of investigation slots. Please choose only one for now! I'll announce on Plurk if we need people in other areas. For the sake of setting — please have characters enter without getting too far into a building.

We'll just have to find out.
[ It can't be too bad, can it? ]

Max, since she's first, will see some of them stained red with blood. Izuminokami will see the books continue deeper into the building. Investigate? ]
no subject
Whoa.. no chance Mr. Rabbit spilled his appletini, is there? [ she'll flip through some of the books just to see the magnitude of blood. ] I've heard of purple prose but red is a little much..

[ Izuminokami will let her inch closer to the ones stained with blood, but his own curiosity has him start to follow the trail of books that'd lead deeper into the area. ]

This action will have consequences.
Anything else of note? ]

Is everything alright over there?
[ He'll look back in front of him, content to explore whatever the hell's going on over here. Whoever set up this pyramid of books is an asshole because he's sighing in annoyance--there's a part of him that's concerned with the redness leaking at the bottom but uh.
Ummm looks like he has to dig through this pile or something?? He starts to pick up one book and tosses it to the side as a beginning. ]
...This is ridiculous.

As he sees through the pile, he'll see the pyramid topple. Mountains of books fall on him — and he's now laying face first with a very dead Esther de Groot. Push the books aside and let's look at the body! ]

[ like tbh this sucks. she's sick of looking at these books, so she goes over to check out what her investigation partner is doing.
and when she does.. ] N-No fucking way.. Esther?[ almost immediately, max feels bile gathering in her throat. it burns, coupling with the fiery hotness from the tears pooling under her eyes. her face is red as a beet. she covers her mouth, but the floodgates were opened — she couldn't help it. she runs as far as she can get — maybe 10 feet — and hurls all over a pile of books. sorry dude, she might not be super helpful. ]

He looks over at Max and aw, man-- ]
Yeah, it's her--hey, what are you...
[ He stops when he hears the sound of... yeah. Yeah. It's fine...this is fine. He's got this, apparently.
Izuminokami takes a closer look at the dead body. So, what kind of wounds is he looking at here? ]
no subject
Poor Max, you need a big aloe leaf, honey. ]
no subject
Or are they pretty much all set here? ]
no subject
The wounds on her chest is noticeable — gorish and sliced open, yet inners torn around shamelessly.
Besides that, there doesn't seem to be much.]
no subject
Whoever did this to you will pay. I can guarantee you that, Esther.
[ Izuminokami's eyes narrow, before he settles and begins to head over to Max, despite the smell. At least their work is over for now. ]
